Check collars!
Well my chins taught me a bit of a lesson tonight - thankfully without harm!

When doing my last check of the chins tonight i noticed that a cagethat shouldhave a sapphire in it had not one but two bodies - onre being a pastel! Cocoa and Zinnia were curled up fast asleep.

normally their polygomaous collars stop them being able to leave their own cages - but the male had chewed cocoas collar allowing her to get up and over the tunnel run into the next cage - thankfully each row of cages comes out for their exercise runs together- so they were friendlywith each other and used to each others company - but in a unit where the chins dont get exercise or meet each other it could have been nasty as a female normally will defend her own territory against any strangers coming in.

I cvheck the tightness of the collars weekly when i weigh them, but hadnt thoguht to run my figners round the edges to se how chewed they had been - its something new to add to my regualt routine now.
