Liaras litter
A few days ago i had the very pleasant surprise of finding Liara had had triplets, three full sapphires! The kits were two females and a male. Thgier weights were rather small - two at 39g and a 42g, so i wasnt sure that all would make it - but they have soldeired on and all continue to grow, all be it slowly.

I have been very lucky lately my last three litters have all been sapphire related and produced full sapphires and one royal - considering that two of the pairings were carrier to carrier, and only the triplets were from a sapphire to carrier (as it was the first litter for both parent and wished to try and obtain a sapphire from the pairing to ensure carrying the line on if i should lose either of them - as has happened in the past :( )

My sapphire lines are going from strength to strength - most of the carriers I show now are getting awards, which is a huge step up from the original parent stock that I had been using, which did not acheive awards when shown.

The charcoals and pastels are slowly moving in the same direction too - but with their natural colouration often leading to a tinge the effort and work needed there is greater. REcently two very nice char carriers from Davidson chinchillas have done extremely well at shows - I shall be glad when my own char carriers get to that level. Eben some of the carriers I have bought in from one of the UKs top breeders havent acheived anything upon the show bench because the colour is so far down in colour with regards to show quality. Over time this is likely to change but short term means more work and effort on producing carriers using the top standards that we have to then cros these carrier to carrer. It is a lot of time, effort and space, and for now i have had to cut back on the charcoal lines as the main focus has to be the sapphires, and pure standard lines.
